Breast Enhancement Surgeon > The Role Of

Any good breast enhancement surgeon will tell you that the patient has a lot of decision-making to do while undergoing breast enhancement. The most important part of the procedure, the end result, is decided by the woman. She needs to work out the shape and size of breasts that she desires, the projection, cleavage size, contours, nipple position, types of implant and incision approach.

Since this may turn out to be an onerous task for the patient alone, the surgeon needs to do his best to communicate any and every piece of information that can help the woman come to a decision. He can throw in suggestions and advise her on the adjustments she needs to make on the desired breasts to make a more realisable and suitable breast type for her. He can also give her a walkthrough on how she should feel after the operation is over. He can give her insights on the movement and nature of her breasts post-surgery. Basically, the patient and the breast enhancement surgeon need to collaborate as a team in order to make the breast enhancement procedure a success.

Breast implants can come in a plethora of sizes and shapes, from round, to tear drop, to asymmetrical to anatomic. The chest wall and the desired type of breasts are the factors that come in handy while deciding which implant needs to be placed inside the patient. Now, a good breast enhancement surgeon needs to understand the subtleties of breasts in order to come up with a natural look. They say that if a woman’s breasts are recognised as having gone through breast surgery, the breast enhancement surgeon has failed at his task.

Breast implants can be of two kinds: silicone and saline. Although silicone implants were very popular until the last decade, nowadays saline implants are considered to be a recommended choice by breast enhancement surgeons. The saline implants are more palpable and can give a more natural appeal to a woman’s breast, along with the fact that they need a smaller incision to be made than their silicone counterparts. This also leads to a  lesser chance of scarring.

However, silicone implants are still the recommended choice for some situations such as a bony chest wall or thin skin. Women who have undergone mastectomy or need a replacement of breast implants may also be recommended to try out silicone implants by their breast enhancement surgeon.

Every breast enhancement surgeon needs to be a good communicator and have presence of mind to recommend deviations from the desired shape and size of the breast required by the woman, if he feels that those type of breasts may harm the woman’s health. Apart from having steady hands and good experience, the surgeon needs to be able to understand exactly what his patient desires and be able to deliver results that exceed expectations.
